Minstrilssamantha "Sammy" is an exotic, Straight Egyptian grey mare by one of the Leading sires of Straight Egyptian horses, The Minstril. The bottom side of her "purple" pedigree is full of both halter and Performance Champions as well, as is evident in her strong and correct yet refined structures, long elegant neck and exotic face, tractable disposition and free floaty movement. Sammy is an excellent Halter, Showmanship, and Most Classic horse, having been shown by adults and children alike. She is very consistent in the show ring garnering many blue ribbons and High Point awards for those who have shown her, Beginners thru Professional handlers. In the Performance arena, Sammy has been shown by Beginner riders in Western Pleasure, Walk Trot, Leadline, Hunter Pleasure and Costume classes, finishing in the ribbons no matter how inexperienced the rider. With Elizabeth as her more advanced rider, 2003 began Sammy's training as a jumper, which she easily took to winnning all but one blue in open competition. She is nearly a finished horse, but is very easy to cue and direct and has been used as a school horse to start theyoungest of riders.

Sammy has one of the neatest personalities on the farm and is certainly no deadhead! Her eyes and ears show that she is alert and watching every minute, and she has that wonderful perky "look-at-me" attitude that does so well in the ring. Everyone who sees her Ooohs and Aaahhs and loves her, and there's not much she wouldn't do for the prospect of a Peppermint! When Sammy arrived here as a boarder, she was a lovely dappled grey, but as the photos show, she is turning into a bright white with just a hint of the bay coloring she had as a foal. Although it can hardly be seen, she still has a great deal of black in her mane and some yet in her tail, making her stand out in the crowd. Sammy has been a member of our family as both a boarder and now as a part of the farm for some time now. She was the first horse for 3 young children and has been leased by a wonderful family for the past couple of years. They have since purchased their own gelding. Sammy was regretfully offered for sale last year as it was our intention to disperse our horses in favor of the Show ring. I wanted this lovely mare to have the opportunity to contribute to the Arabian breed and felt that would be better served by another program. Lucky for us, I did not pursue the offers from the kind individuals who offered to purchase her from us. Since our purchase of WDA Orion our plans took a drastic turn and I am so thankful to have the opportunity to cross her once with him before passing her on to another family.. Sammy has been bred to WDA Orion for an incredible 2005 foal. The foal is Breeders Sweepstakes Nominated and National Futurity Nominated.
